After conducting various tests, the company launched a new version of uTorrent, giving the users of uTorrent an option to render inoperative these ads. Advertisers willing to advertise their ads via uTorrent can easily do it via uTorrent ads support function and therefore, can easily reach and get connected to a huge database of over one twenty five million uTorrent users.

Ads that are displayed via uTorrent can easily be found on the golden bar which appears before the list of torrents. After doing so, go to drop down menu and click on the exit. Reopen the uTorrent software again, and get pleasure from ad disabled version of uTorrent.

In a staging site for Microsoft, spotted first on Neowin, Microsoft recently published this clarification:

Once a qualified Windows device is upgraded to Windows 10, we will continue to keep it up to date for the supported lifetime of the device, keeping it more secure, and introducing new features and functionality over time – for no additional charge.

So, right now it seems as if you will NOT be paying yearly fee to keep the Windows 10 OS running on your PC after one year completion. All you need to do is to upgrade your Windows 7 or 8.1 PC within one year. This means that you will keep on getting Windows 10 updates for your PC for free.

I guess this settles down this confusion that Microsoft is going to make money with yearly updates. However it’s not clear how much the Windows OS maker is going to charge if you upgrade after one year.
This confirmation comes in the wake of the fact that the company has shown some sign in the past that show its drift from the conventional way of charging the users. With Office 365 for home users, Microsoft charges an annual fee for access to the Office Suite. This has also fueled the rumors in the past that Windows 10 could be released on a yearly subscription basis.
So, I hope this kind of clears the fact that if you upgrade your Windows , 8 or 8.1 within one year of the launch, you won’t have to pay for the future Redstone and the updates following that.

Back in March, Windows chief Terry Myerson reportedly said that the free Windows 10 upgrade offer will be extended to the pirated copies. After numerous explanations, Facebook has issued a full clarification.
If you have a pirated copy of Windows and you upgrade to Windows 10, you will see a watermark placed on your computer screen. In the previous version of Windows, Microsoft tells the users by displaying the message “This is not a genuine copy of Windows.” If you buy Windows 10 computer and you come across this message on your desktop, you should return the system.

However, in another statement Microsoft said: “While our free offer to upgrade to Windows 10 will not apply to Non-Genuine Windows devices, and as we’ve always done, we will continue to offer Windows 10 to customers running devices in a Non-Genuine state.”
This means that your Windows 10 copy will continue to work on pirated machines. Microsoft wants you to run a non-genuine copy and nag you continuously about the upgrade.
Microsoft says that it is planning to bring some very attractive Windows 10 upgrade offers to the users that will encourage people to move the pirated copies to an official one. More details haven’t been yet announced, but more information is expected to drop by soon as the expected summer release comes nearer.

In Windows 7, users with pirated installs are displayed occasional messages about the illegal upgrade. Such users have only access to critical updates and they are barred from the optional ones. Windows 10 too is expected to run with such stipulations.

Project Shield: Google Wants to Protect News and Human Rights Websites from DDOS Attack

DDOS aka Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack is an attempt to make an online service unavailable by overwhelming it with traffic from multiple sources. Attacker target a wide variety of important resources and present a major challenge to making sure people can publish and access important information.
We have seen many DDOS attack in past few months which includes a long lasting attack on code repository service GitHub. Many sites providing controversial facts were affected by the attack and are still susceptible to attack at any time. Google has launched Project Shield to help protect small news and human rights websites from DDoS attacks.
Google Says –

Project Shield is an initiative launched by Google Ideas to use Google’s own Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack mitigation technology to protect free expression online. The service allows other websites to serve their content through Google’s infrastructure without having to move their hosting location. We are currently seeking new websites to try the service as trusted testers.

Websites need protection can apply for early invite at https://projectshield.withgoogle.com/public/#application-form. Once a website has been sent an invite to become a ‘trusted tester’, they will receive an invite to join the initiative and instructions on how to configure their website for the DDoS mitigation.
Though Google does not guarantees uptime or protection levels but still its an great initiative. Google has designed its infrastructure to defend itself and this initiative is aimed at extending free protection to third-party websites. After receiving an invite to sign up, there are a few steps required to set up the service. All the information web masters need will be emailed to them. A webmaster with admin privileges and basic technical knowledge (e.g. comfortable configuring a web-server and modifying DNS records) should be able to set up the service in about 10 minutes.

During the testing process, Project Shield will be free. Google might charge in the future, but participants will get 30-day notice. “We’re hoping to offer the service to charities and non-profits at a reduced fee or at no cost in the future, but this is still under development,” Google said.

Project Shield is built on Google’s PageSpeed service, a frontend tool that offers developers faster loading times. Sites hosted by Project Shield would sit behind PageSpeed’s infrastructure, allowing Google to pool resources if any one site fell victim to an attack. Unless an attack were strong enough to bring down all the PageSpeed sites, it wouldn’t be able to bring down any of them. It’s a similar model to existing DDoS services like Cloudflare, although the more recently launched PageSpeed service is working from a smaller base of sites.

GitHub is one the most popular websites among programmers and developers and is currently having 3.4 million users with 2.2 million active repositories. This software development web site used for collaborative projects is currently being hit by a massive and continuous DDoS (distributed denial) attack. It should be noted that earlier this week, China admitted that it is having an army of hackers.
THN writes that when GitHub users from outside countries come across advertisements and tracking codes served from Baidu, Chinese Internet giant, the Chinese attackers inject nasty JavaScript codes into those pages. This malicious code initiates the web browsers to connect to GitHub.com every 2 seconds without users’ permission. In turn, this drives a massive traffic to GitHub.

This was reported by a researcher who goes the name of Anthr@x from InsightLabs.org. This GitHub DDoS attack specifically targets two GitHub projects named GreatFire and CN-NYTimes. These are the censorship tools being used to help the people to Chine to dodge The Great Firewall of China. Chinese government is known to censor Internet access in China. In simpler words, people residing outside China are being targeted for accessing things that the Chinese government hates, like, freedom of speech and expression.

GreatFire: It’s a very popular anti-censorship group on GitHub fighting against Chinese Internet censorship.

We’ve been under continuous DDoS attack for 24+ hours. The attack is evolving, and we’re all hands on deck mitigating.

We are continuing to defend GitHub against a very large DDoS attack.

The latest message on the GitHub website is:

The ongoing DDoS attack has shifted again to include Pages and assets. We are updating our defenses to match.

The researcher has analyzed the attack and came up with the infectious JavaScript code which is being injected for these GitHub DDoS attack. THN writes that the Chinese search engine titan Baidu has denied its intentional involvement in this GitHub DDoS attack and they are “are working together to get to the bottom of this.”

Torrenting works on the same P2P protocol with its seeds and leechers terminology.
This Peer-to-peer updating system will be optional. If you’ll choose to go with this feature, you will be able to download the updates using two modes:

Your PC will receive updates from the other systems on the same network. Or,

Your PC will be receiving the same both from the local network or the PCs on the web.

Back in 2013, Microsoft acquired Pando Networks, which is a peer-to-peer file sharing technology just like BitTorrent. So, this movement towards P2P isn’t surprising. It’s not clear if Microsoft is using the same technology for peer-to-peer updates or something else, but it surely has some Pando Networks connection.



The P2P networking came into existence since the invention of ARPANET, but the advantages of P2P protocol became obvious to the people in late 1990s. The music sharing application Napster appeared using the P2P sharing followed by Gnutella and BitTorrent. This is also used to provide an anonymous route to the network traffic and distribute storage. Most commonly used applications of P2P networking pertain to the media sharing services.
The Verge writes that this could spark some security concerns related to the cogency of updates and it’s very possible the Microsoft has surely built some solid methods to full proof and verify the updates before installation.

Microsoft’s Windows 10 Technical Preview may seem to be a good alternative for current Windows users, But in reality it aint so!!!

Microsoft seems to have decided not to release next major build of its Windows 10 desktop preview version next week but instead offering an update for the current Windows 10 Technical Preview 9926 version. It seems that Microsoft is running slow of it schedules or what tech world has expected of it.

Some users are even reporting BSODs.  What that means is your ‘Familiar PC’ may become very unfamiliar to you with very new and unexpected problems starting to kick in, which could be anything starting from PC getting slow to overheating, to a total performance downgrade.
3. Software Issues / Incompatibility 
One of the major reason why you should not opt for the Windows 10 TP version is that you may face various software incompatibility issue.
Think about it, you try to access a software and it goes dead with your freshly downloaded Windows 10 TP version. 4. If you are a privacy advocate, you should be knowing that your Windows 10 TP version use will be closely monitored by Microsoft.
Well, a technical preview version is always made to do so, monitoring every system it is on to gather useful information on how to improve itself. but there are side effects of it too. With new revelation coming every day on how tech companies are monitoring you and sharing those data with law agencies or ad networks, it may not be a wise decision to go for Windows 10 TP. Incase you get dissatisfied by the Windows 10 TP version and is thinking of rolling back to your old version of Windows you will have to go through the process of reinstalling, recovery disc or USB recovery drive.
While these are only very few reasons why choosing the Windows 10 TP version is not a wise decision you should also keep it in mind that Microsoft is not giving all the features which it announced will be coming with Windows 10 and for that you will have to wait for the final version.
The user experience or System performance will be different from a user to another depending upon his hardware and software/ driver uses. so if it performs well for your friend, it does not mean that you will get the same experience using it on your PC.

Hephaestos, the programmer who wrote the USBkill script, says that USBkill is an anti-forensic USB. He says that it will be of utmost important in case the police busts your bunker, or steals your laptop. USB waits for some change at USB ports and then suddenly kills your computer. He writes:

The police will use a mouse jiggler to keep the screensaver and sleep mode from activating. If this happens you would like your computer to shut down immediately. Additionally, you may use a cord to attach a USB key to your wrist. Then insert the key into your computer and start USBkill. If they then steal your computer, the USB will be removed and the computer shuts down immediately.

If the police catches you, you would want your PC to shut down immediately. He advises the users to tie the USB drive to your wrist and instantly start the USBkill by removing the USB when cops knock down your door.

He adds that users must use full disk encryption, otherwise law enforcement agencies will have their party anyway.

Google’s secret search algorithm, the heart of Google, may not be a secret anymore. A law is under consideration in France that would force the search engine giant to reveal its most secret treasure- Google’s search algorithm. This would be one of the toughest supervisory over the internet company. The Financial Times has reported that the French government is passing a law in the French senate that could possibly force Google to publish the details of the method it uses to rank websites and show search results.
It is most likely that France will be passing this law this week and it will give rights to the national telecom regulator to keep an eye on Google’s search algorithm. It should be kept in mind that recently the Wall Street Journal published a report that lashed harsh allegations of FTC’s incompetence to trial Google for its unfair search algorithm.

According to a study, Google handles more than 90% of searches in Europe which is greater than its 68% share in the America.
Catherine Morin-Desailly, chair of the Senate’s culture, education and communication committee said: “The government is well aware of the issues. It’s a question of ensuring fairness. Too many businesses view search engines as bottlenecks. The net is tightening around [Google].”

What is f.lux what does it do?

f.lux is a desktop applet for Windows, Linux, Mac, iPhone, iPad and iPod touch which limits the glow of your screen. Instead, it replaces that with a warm tone. There is no problem for your eyes not to feel comfortable on the screen in the morning. The daylight is sufficient and doesn’t let your eyes feel the glow that the screen throws. But say at 11 PM while you are, say trying to work late after sneaking on your father or wife, you power up your computer and you get instantly taken back by the brightness!
You can reduce the brightness and contrast to a certain extent, but there is a limit to which you can go without compromising your experience. f.lux comes to rescue here. It automatically switches to a warm tone at night and goes back to a brighter shade in the morning.
Don’t worry as it uses only 3.86MB of RAM approximately, is completely free, has no CPU load and works like a charm without any user interference. The working is also fairly simple. You can also customize the way it works, especially how warm you want your screen to be at night.

How to use f.lux to save your eyes?

It does the work by calculating your present location (through google maps)and works according to the sunrise/sunset cycle. The f.lux indicator applet automatically manages the color temperature of your screen based on your latitude and longitude, or if you are in the US, your zip code.

In the preferences panel, you can set your preferred night-time color temperature and see a preview, as well as seeing the current color temperature.

How To Save Instagram Photos To Your Mobile And Desktop

Just like WhatsApp, Instagram’s acquisition was one of the most wise decisions made by Facebook. Instagram is one of most used photgraphy apps and I know it’s one your favorite apps for photo sharing. Based on a user request, today I’m sharing something related to Intagram and how to use it to the fullest.
There are different method of saving the Instagram images on different devices, so today I am going to show you the best way of getting these photo saved in high quality. I’ll be breaking the tutorial in three parts. Let’s take a look at them one by one.

1. Save Instagram photos while uploading (Mobile)

To save your Instagram photos during the upload, you have to follow some pretty simple steps. Open Instagram app on your device and go to app settings by clicking on the hamburger symbol located at top right corner. Now find and enable Save Original Photos option. This will automatically save a copy of the image you upload on Instagram from next time.

2. Save Instagram photos without uploading (Mobile)

As most of us already know that the quality of photos taken and uploaded on Instagram are quite good, but what if you just want to click a picture, edit it using Instagram filters and keep it in the device. Instagram does not offer any direct method to save the clicked images to your device. So here is the method to save the picture without uploading:

• To save the photos without uploading first you need to make sure that you have enabled the Save Original Photos option as mentioned above.
• Now take the photo you wish to save in your device without uploading, and apply the filters to enhance the quality.
• Now go to the control center and turn Airplane mode on.
• Now return to the Instagram app and tap on the right tick symbol in order to upload the photo. The upload will obviously fail, but your photo will be saved to your device which you can access from your Gallery.

3. Save Instagram photos in your desktop

Saving your Instagram photos in your desktop is a little tricky process for those who don’t know about inspect element. Although it’s not very difficult and you can of-course snip the photo easily, but that will reduce the quality of your image. So here is the method to save the Instagram photo in your desktop without reducing its quality:

• Right click on the photo you want to save and then click on Inspect element. 
  
• This will bring a sidebar with some HTML code. Copy the code which is highlighted as blue, it will be enclosed in the src attribute.
  
• Paste the URL in a tab and delete everything except the image code. Which starts with “https://” and end with “.jpg” and press enter
• Your picture will be appeard that tab, right click and save it.

Facebook Friends Mapper Chrome extension fools the mutual friends feature of the Facebook and collects the hidden friends’ data of your friends and makes them public for you.
Let’s suppose a friend of yours doesn’t share his/her friends list but has few mutual friends with you. THN writes: “If, for example, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg does not share his friends list with the public and neither I am on his friend list. However, I have at least one mutual friend with him. So using Facebook Friends Mapper tool I would be able to see most of his hidden Facebook friends by exploiting the ‘mutual friend’ logical flaw.”

How to use Facebook Friends Mapper extension for Chrome?

Step 1:
To see any friend’s hidden friends list, you need to download and install the Facebook Friend Mapper extension.
Step 2:
Now go to your friend’s profile whom you are wishing to see the hidden friends list. You will be seeing a new (Reveal Friends) option in the friends tab.

Step3:
Click on the Reveal Friends option and you will be able to see all the friends whether they are your mutual friends or not.

Warning: These kinds of extension are not good for your web browser, I just installed them in order to make the tutorial and write about this flaw. So I won’t recommend you to use this on a permanent basis.
Note: However to use this Facebook Friends Mapper Chrome extension, you must have one mutual friend with the target. It doesn’t matter of you are Facebook friends with that person or not.
If someone uses this tool, your privacy settings won’t work for that person and your hidden friends list will be exposed. I hope Facebook fixes this logical flaw before this tool goes viral.

8 Google Fun Tricks That You’d Love to Know

Internet is Google and Google is Internet for many of us. You use Google everyday but you will not be knowing some tricks, funny searches and games that Google provides hidden behind its vast layers of database.
You will ask me that what is the use of these things, I would simply say that it’s just for fun. It is something you can show to your friends, impress them , show them your geeky side. In fact when I showed these things to one of my friends, he was really impressed with me and asked me how I came to knew about  them. So I thought about posting it online, therefore I tracked down all the tricks and compiled a list of them. Here it goes:

Go to Google.com and simply type in the search box “do a barrel roll” and see the magic . The page will rotate two times.

2. Atari Breakout Trick:




Go to Google images and type “Atari Breakout”. The images will be transformed into blocks and you can play Breakout ,classic arcade game of the 70’s era.

Search for “tilt” on Google and see how your page tilts a little .

4. Recursion trick:
 
Search for “recursion” on Google and you will get stuck in an infinite loop much like recursion . Recursion means repeating. Google will show “did you mean recursion?” every time  searching for recursion . It is a fun act of Google for all the geeks who understand what is recursion.
5. Google Gravity:



Type in “Google Gravity ” in their homepage and then click on the “I’ m feeling lucky” button. It will redirect you to one of the fun projects called “Google Gravity”. It is a Chrome Experiment done by Hi-Res. See how gravity bring Google to its knees. You can even search anything.
6. Zerg Rush:







When you type “zerg rush” in Google .The ‘o’ and ‘o’ of Google appears from the top and the right of the Google page and slowly eats up the whole page leaving nothing . Its fun to watch.

7. Bonus: elgoog.im
 

A rotated version of Google.com, kind of google tricks. Provides you with a reversed Google site, known as Google backwards. You can also do surfing on elgoog.im, it’s fun.










8. Google Sky

You can fly through space using Google sky. You can see  celestial objects, including stars, constellations, galaxies, planets and the Earth’s moon via Google sky.
